Southdown Honors America’s Veterans

The second graders at Southdown Primary School have been busy these past few days. The youngsters created Veterans Day posters that are being put on display in shops around Huntington Village.

“I started this community project a few years back and went from having just my class participate to the whole grade level,” teacher Tiffanie Kelly said. “The kids learn how to show their appreciation for our local veterans and practice their writing skills.”

The experience was a somewhat usual one for young students. “They are creating a poster with a simple slogan and patriotic image to remind our community to be thankful for our veterans,” Ms. Kelly said. “The kids take such pride in their work when they go walking around town and seeing our posters displayed in the local stores.”
