Huntington Perfect at
Mills Pond House
All nine submissions by Huntington High School art students were accepted for display at show held at the Smithtown Township Art Council’s Mill Pond House Gallery in St. James. The work included six photographs, a pair of computer graphics pieces and a digitally manipulated photograph.
“This very prestigious show featured work from 15 Suffolk County school districts,” explained Joan R. Fretz, Huntington’s director of fine and performing arts. “It is a great honor to have your work chosen for this exhibit.”
The “Huntington Nine” included Arielle Bonnici (“Vintage Grace” – digitally manipulated photograph), Brian Gershowitz (“Subway” – computer graphics), Grace Kelly (“Self-Portrait” – photograph), Katie Levittan (“Urban Landscape – photograph), Kay Lodge (“Tumbleweeds” – photograph), Elaine Long (“Lily” – photograph), Ryan LoScalzo (“Keyhole” – computer graphics), Sarah Reicherter (“Body 2” – photograph) and Isabel Sorrentino (“Daisy Bug” – photograph).
The Youth Art Showcase 2009 and Destination Downtown Poster Display show ran for a full month at the magnificently restored 171-year old Mills Pond House, which is located on 25A. That every single submission by a Huntington student was accepted is proof-positive of just how talented a group of students and teachers presently comprise the district’s art program.
