Questions and Answers with Rebecca Lader
Q: How old are you and what grade are you in?
RL: I'm 16 and a junior.
Q: How did you first get interested in photography?
RL: I first got interested in photography in second grade when I got my first camera ever, which was a Polaroid one-step. As soon as I got it I couldn't put it down, and I still use that same Polaroid camera today!
Q: Where do you get your ideas?
RL: I get my ideas in a few different ways. Some of my ideas are a result of personal experience, while others are inspired (my biggest inspiration is Tim Walker, who often shoots for Vogue Magazine); but most of the time my ideas pretty much just flow, like if I'm daydreaming. Whenever I have an idea I write it down and most of the time and draw it out immediately, so I won't forget it.
Q: Is there any specific type of photography you like best?
RL: Fine art photography is definitely my favorite.
Q: How has the Huntington photography program helped you with your love of photography?
RL: The Huntington photography program has helped me out so much! Taking Intro to Photography taught me almost everything there is to know about the basics and helped me out so much more technically. I can work my digital SLR camera so much better after taking that class! Also, Advanced Photography helps me out so much with editing my photos and I know so much more about lighting as well.
Lastly, Ms. Piffard helps me out with anything and everything I ask about. I have gained an abundance of knowledge from the program!
Q: Do plan to continue with photography or go to school for it?
RL: I plan to continue with photography for the rest of my life and go to school for it. I'm really passionate about it and I hope I can make a living someday doing something I love so much!
