Bosco Earns All-State Honors
Angela Bosco, a Huntington High School senior who scored 12 goals for the Blue Devil girls’ soccer team this fall, has earned second team All-State honors.
Huntington, coached by John Walsh and Jennifer Vettorato, finished the season with 12-5-1 mark, 10-2 in league play. The Blue Devils lost to Hauppauge in the Suffolk Class A finals, 1-0.
Bosco and teammate Emma Hayes-Hurley, who scored nine goals this season, were named to the All-County team. Emilie Pugliese, Danielle Catanese, Meredith McCourt garnered All-Conference honors. Maya Yakobi was tapped as All-League.
Walsh called Bosco a “great leader” and said his star player “came into her own this year.” She’ll pass the torch off to Hayes-Hurley, who is a junior and who Walsh is looking “to go to the next level next year and continue to improve.”
“All of the seniors showed leadership in their own way,” Walsh said. The Blue Devils “became a close family,” the coach said. “They will remember this season for a long time.”
With eleven players returning next fall, Huntington will again put a strong team on the field. “They must step up and fill starting positions,” Walsh said about the returnees. “The ability is there.”
