Perfect Day for Huntington Booster Club

Booster Golf DinnerThis year’s Huntington Booster Club golf outing and dinner came on a picture perfect fall day at the Crab Meadow Golf Club overlooking the Long Island Sound.  It honored Blue Devil lacrosse great and current volunteer coach Hutch VanderSchuyt and served as a reunion of sorts for legions of alumni.

The event raised money for the Booster Club, which plows all of the proceeds it raises right back into the Huntington athletic program, through a grant program, scholarships and the purchase of equipment.  Participants included several Huntington School Board members, alumni, parents and friends of the athletic program.

“We have a very special athletic program,” Mr. VanderSchuyt said.  “We all know that.  I have been very proud to be associated with it all these years and to continue to be involved.  The Booster Club does a great job supporting our athletes.”

This year’s outing and dinner drew a crowd of 15 foursomes that played 18 holes and about 100 dinner guests.  “I was thrilled,” Booster Club President Barbara Cutrone said in reference to the turnout.  “I thought it was a great day, beautiful weather and everyone enjoyed it. During these difficult financial times, I was so appreciative to all those who came out to support the Booster Club and in doing so our children.”

The Booster Club is already discussing holding another golf outing and dinner next October.  “It’s a great day for the Huntington athletic program and nice way for alumni and friends to support our student-athletes,” Assistant Superintendent Joseph Giani said.
