The Huntington girls’ swimming team notched a satisfying victory over East Hampton/Bridgehampton, 87-79. Diana Harvey captured the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:07.5 to pace the Blue Devils.
The Huntington boys’ soccer team couldn’t stop a strong Sayville squad in a 3-1 loss. Stevens Merilan scored in the second half for the Blue Devils. Nick DiPaola assisted. E.J. Connell recorded 11 saves in goal.
Brian Cotter finished second in the three mile race in a time of 16:58 but it wasn’t enough to prevent undefeated Kings Park from turning back the Blue Devils in a boys’ cross country meet.
Kathryn Schmitz easily swept to victory in the three mile race in 21:45 and Oliva Torres and Jillian Silverberg finished fifth and eighth, respectively, but the Huntington girls’ cross country team lost to Comsewogue by 15 points. Gabby Mitchell and Michelle Grenier enjoyed personal bests for the Blue Devils at the meet.
The Huntington girls’ soccer team scored two first half goals and held off Eastport-South Manor, 2-1. Angela Bosco scored what proved to be the game winner on a penalty kick to the lower left corner. Earlier, Bosco scored on a breakaway to tie the game.
The Huntington boys’ soccer team used three first half goals to top Walt Whitman, 3-2. Nick DiPaola scored twice and teammate Chris Sandoval added another goal and an assist. Stevens Merilan had two assists.
The Blue Devils’ fall cheerleading squad consists of Meleika Amos, Hailey Borders, Melissa Cartagena, Yvette Contreras, Alyssa Cortes, Jennifer Cortes, Edna Delva, Jasmin Feliciano, Rhiccia Gomez, Nancy Herring, Fatima Moreno-Boles, Shelby O’Neil-Devin, Cindy Portillo, Dayna Reyes, Glorimar Rivera, Casey Saber, Leslie Stephen, Keirah Thompson, Alexis Velazquez and Gizel Velazquez.
The Huntington junior varsity girls’ volleyball team turned back Hauppauge, 2-1 behind server Krista Castillo’s nine points.
The Huntington girls’ tennis team edged Kings Park behind the sharp play of third doubles players Lauren Narine and Caitlin Ortiz, who won a thrilling 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 (6-4) marathon match.
The Huntington boys’ cross country team topped Deer Park, 19-38 (the team with the lowest score wins) as Blue Devil teammates Brian Cotter and Dylan Payne crossed the line in first and second place, respectively, in 18:13 and 18:27 at Sunken Meadow State Park.
Karly Kocis and Natalie Hartmann teamed up to capture second doubles, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 and propel the Huntington girls’ tennis team over Smithtown West, 5-2.
The Huntington girls’ soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 on Angela Bosco’s first half goal, but couldn’t hold off Kings Park in a 2-1 loss that saw the Kingsmen tie the game on a penalty kick and score what proved to be the game winner with less than 28 minutes remaining. Michaela Acton recorded nine saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
Kaitlyn Larkin led the Huntington girls’ swimming team over William Floyd, 96-72. Larkin won the 500 yard freestyle and the 200 yard individual medley to lead the Blue Devils to victory.
Half Hollow Hills West ran past the Huntington boys’ cross country team, 20-42, but Brian Cotter captured first place in the three-mile race in a time of 17:01 for the Blue Devils.
The Huntington girls’ tennis team split a pair of one point matches, nipping Smithtown East, 4-3 and then losing by the same score against Walt Whitman.
The Huntington boys’ soccer team lost to powerful Comsewogue, 4-0. Sophomore E.J. Connell played well against the state-ranked opponents, stopping 19 shots in goal.
Brian Cotter won another three mile race, but Huntington lost to Eastport-South Manor, 26-30. Cotter breezed through the course in a time of 17:10.
Nick DiPaola put the Blue Devil boys’ soccer team on the scoreboard first, but Huntington allowed the lead to slip through its fingers in a 2-1 loss to Harborfields that saw goalie Marco Lagone make five saves.
The Huntington field hockey team managed four shots on goal, but none of them went in during a tough 1-0 loss to Centereach, which scored the game’s only goal with barely a minute remaining in the second half. Isabel Sorrentino made six saves for the Blue Devils.
