Woodhull School Goes to the Polls to Elect Leaders
Not to be outdone by the adults in their lives, the students at Woodhull Intermediate School recently went to the polls to elect their leaders. The youngsters faced a ballot packed with 39 candidates for the offices of student council president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.
To qualify for the ballot, candidates needed to submit a petition signed by at least 20 fellow students, create a campaign poster and deliver a speech before the entire student body. Teachers Christine Barresi and Martha Reilly, who jointly serve as student council advisors, supervised the campaign and election.
The victors included Elizabeth Corrao (president), Emma DeGennaro (vice-president), Olivia Liepa (treasurer) and Samantha Glicker (secretary.) The day following the general election, students chose their homeroom representatives.
