Huntington Science Awards Presented at June Ceremony
Several dozen top Huntington High School students were presented with awards by science department faculty members during a ceremony earlier this month in the school library.
Ken Graham, district director of science, presented the St. John’s University Women in Science Award to Itzel Cedillo-Rosa, Danielle Cerezo, Tatiana DiPaola, Carolyn Fante, Madeleine Jensen, Kelsey Kunes, Shayne Larkin and Jasmin Valcourt.
Mr. Graham also presented the American Association of University Women Award to Natasha Thalla, the Rensselaer Scholarship and Medal Award to Dylan Payne and the Bausch & Lomb Scholarship to Christopher Lau.
Teacher Dame Forbes presented an award to Chemistry student Sebastian Norgaard along with awards to Honors Chemistry students Adam Cerini, Alyson Coleman and Carolyn Fante, Environmental Chemistry student Kerry Hempel and AP Chemistry students Christopher Lau and Fione Bryne.
Teacher Deborah Beck presented awards to Living Environment students Nana Jiang, Paul Mazzotta and Jane Mitchell, Living Environment Honors student Alexa Giammarino and AP Biology students Rebecca Silverman and Alanna Tieman.
Teacher Roseanne Brienza presented awards to Animal Behavior students Kirsten Freiman, Olivia Hayes-Hurley and Erika Norton, Living Environment Bilingual student Marcia Moreira-Grandique and Marine Ecology student Jacob Goldsztejn.
Earth Science teacher Craig McKee presented an award to Alyssa Fennington. Teacher Tom Masone presented awards to students Ye Ji Cho (Physics), Dylan Payne (Honors Physics) and Max Cohen (AP Physics). Teacher Marguerite Montefusco presented awards to Forensic Science students Kathleen Anderson and Virginia Ramirez and Advanced Forensic student Steven Nigro.
“It was a great year for science study in Huntington,” Superintendent John J. Finello said.
