Celebrate Black History Month on Wednesday Night

The Tri-Community Youth Agency will hold its annual Black History Month celebration in the Huntington High School auditorium on Wednesday night (Feb. 27) at 7 p.m.

The evening will feature performances and tributes by more than 30 Huntington High School students, who will sing, dance, read poems and otherwise commemorate the occasion.  This year’s celebration carries the theme “Remember the Time! – Salute to Black History.”

Successful Huntington alumni will take brief turns speaking during a special segment added to this year’s program.  The celebration is free and open to the public.  The facility is completely handicapped accessible.

The scheduled alumni speakers include Town Councilwoman Glenda Jackson (Class of 1982), Brentwood East Middle School assistant principal Barry Mohammed (’89), Town of Huntington EEO officer Jillian Guthman-Abadom (’88), Huntington teacher Ronald Wilson (’94) and Roberta Batts (’72), who works at Fuse Music Network where she has held various positions over the years, including executive assistant to the president and community liaison.
