Huntington High School graduates John Paganas (1998), Chris Kaczor (1998) and Auggie Abbatiello (1997) recently went on vacation to Costa Rica. The group surfed, engaged in white water rafting, zip lining, horseback riding, cliff jumping, visited volcanoes, rode Quads and encountered monkeys and crocodiles.
Mr. Paganas, who is engaged to be married next summer, resides in California where he is employed as a project manager by Turner Construction. Mr. Kaczor and Mr. Abbatiello reside in Huntington. Mr. Kaczor is a project manner with a construction company engaged in many New York City projects. Mr. Abbatiello manages Pancho Villa’s restaurant, a business owned by his family.
Caitlin Maier Joyner, a member of Huntington High School’s Class of 1995, has a busy month in January, celebrating her son Austin’s first birthday on New Year’s Day. “I am keeping quite busy running around after my very fast crawler,” she said. “My computer time has taken a hit since I cannot ever take my eyes off of my sweet boy! I have been enjoying every second of being his mommy.”
At Huntington, Mrs. Joyner participated in tennis, volleyball and basketball and was a student government officer, as well as a top student. Following her graduation, she earned an undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University and taught Advanced Placement English on the high school level in Florida and Georgia. Her teaching career is now on hold, following the birth of her son.
“I am working on writing a textbook with my dear friend with whom I taught AP Literature for three years,” said Mrs. Joyner, who resides in Nokomis, Florida with her husband David and son. “She is also off on maternity leave for the next few years, so we have been having great fun getting together each week to write about how to explicate/deconstruct literature and poetry. This way, I am able to let my inner nerd loose while still enjoying the positives of being home.”
Paul Ackerman, a member of Huntington’s Class of 1987, resides with his wife Janay in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he is a software developer at Del Mar College. Mr. Ackerman obtained his undergraduate degree at SUNY Buffalo and earned a Master’s degree at Rochester Institute of Technology.
