Preschool and Pre-K Programs Available to Huntington Children

The Family Service League has announced details of how Huntington School District parents can register children for its 2008-09 Universal Pre-K and pre-school programs.

Registration for these free programs will be held at the St. Hugh of Lincoln Church school building located at 1450 New York Ave. in Huntington Station. (Parking is available in the lot on the corner of New York Ave. and Pulaski Road. Enter at the rear of the building facing Pulaski Road.) To schedule a registration appointment, call 617-5632 anytime after Feb. 1.

The three-year old pre-school program is open to those born between Dec. 2, 2004 and Dec. 1, 2005. Eligibility is based upon income. The four year old Universal Pre-Kindergarten program is for those born between Dec. 2, 2003 and Dec. 1, 2004 and is open to all children residing in the Huntington School District .

Transportation is provided for the Universal Pre-K program, but not for the three-year old program. Both programs follow the Huntington School District calendar and are held five days per week for 2 ½ hours per day.

To register, the Family Service League requires a child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, parent/guardian identification, proof of address (including one utility bill, mail from school, etc.), proof of income if registering a child for the three-year old program (pay stub, tax returns), current immunization record (within one year) and alternate emergency contact names and phone numbers.
