Huntington School Board Notes


Kelly Lewis has been appointed as a probationary special education and assigned to Huntington High School.  She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at Dowling College in 1993 and 2000 respectively.  She will be eligible for tenure on Sept. 1, 2009.

 

Prior to coming to Huntington, Ms. Lewis worked in Corona, Queens as an elementary level teacher, was a special education teacher at Bethpage High School from 1996 to 2003 and worked for Metro Therapy in Hauppauge and Marion K. Salomon, an early intervention and pre-school agency serving young children and their families.



Trustees made numerous teacher aide appointments at their last meeting including Maria Valente, Erin O’Leary, Shirley Bradford, Antonette Frazier, John Okula, Brianne McCarthy, Melissa Conroy, Karen LaMonica, Kerri Grebbia, Karen Hempel, Sean Drake, Lucy Atkins, Elissa Melkonian, Christine Draghi, Patricia Gaspari, Cynthia Vitulli, Karen Hagerman, Nancie Corcoran, Gale Greenstein, Bernard Carlin, Marjory DiPaola, Marie Gaspard, Leslie Sullivan, Jackeline Galante and Susan Schedler. Elizabeth Voight was hired as an account clerk typist, effective Sept. 18.



Gale Greenstein, a food service worker at J. Taylor Finley Middle School, has resigned her position.



Arnette Hall-Connolly has been hired as a long-term substitute bilingual elementary teacher and assigned to Flower Hill Primary School.  She was appointed to serve through June 30, 2008.

 

Ms. Hall-Connolly earned a B.A. degree at SUNY Regents College in June 1994 in liberal arts and obtained a Master’s degree in elementary education at Long Island University in August 1997. 

 

Prior to coming to Huntington she has worked as an adjunct professor at Suffolk Community College, at the Huntington Learning Center as an elementary tutor and as a teacher assistant at the Ivy League School in Smithtown.



Elementary teacher Vincenza Famigletti-Caruso has been recalled from the preferred eligibility list effective Sept. 18.



Trustees appointed club advisors for J. Taylor Finley Middle School including Mark Belton (Art club, stage crew), Dee Weinstock (audio-visual), Kathryn Costa (Banana Splits), Caterina Cain (Banana Splits), Carol Dow (dance), Debra Kim (dram asst. – musical, Tri-M honor society, honor strings), Josephine Rosado (drama musical director, show choir), Angela Long (Community club, honor society), Jennifer Rogers (honor society), Tim Madden (Leader’s club), Travis Smith (Leader’s club), Mary Paar (Leader’s club), Patrick O’Connor (literary magazine), Clinton Atkins (Mathcounts, Mathletes 7), Denise Grodzicki (Mathletes 8), Julia Schwartz (newspaper), Kimberly Schiller (newspaper), Christopher Helmke (photography, stage crew), Sharon Holly (school store), Christopher Scarnato (Jazz ensemble), Frank Battista (wind ensemble) Kimberly Finneran (student government), Denise DeChiaro (student government) and John Hlavaty (yearbook).
