Huntington School Board Briefs


Huntington School Board members have approved tenure for special education teachers Suzanne Guiliani-Gimpel (effective Dec. 14) and Krista Kozlosky (Dec. 20) and music teacher Jason Giachetti (Dec. 22).

 

Trustees changed ESL teacher Jennifer Marsh’s projected tenure date from Sept. 1, 2008 to Oct. 17, 2008 due to an unpaid child care leave of absence.

Trustees accepted the resignations of Huntington High School social studies/ESL teacher Eric Stein, effective Nov. 13 and Huntington Intermediate School teacher Jessica Boyle, effective Nov. 30.

English Language Arts Coordinator Angela Berner was authorized to provide up to ten hours of teacher training for the elementary grade level after school program.  Her stipend of $45.77 per hour will be covered by a grant.

Mariana Irigoyan, David Crimi, Soraya Triessl, Luz Marotta, Frances Poy and Cinzia Reeves were approved to work for two hours each providing a parent workshop.  Their $45.77 per hour stipends will be covered by a grant.

Frederick Bisogno (Global 9 & 10, U.S. History), Jordan Gould (Participation in Government, Economics), Michael Graziano (Math A2), Angela Stogianos (English 9/10) and Erica Parris (English 11/12) were each appointed to work in the Huntington High School evening program.  They will be paid at the rate of $49.76 per hour and given an additional hour of pay for every five hours taught to cover time spent planning.  Each teacher will work four hours per week.

Elementary teachers Keith Meyers and Allison Von Vange were appointed Greenkill trip coordinators for the 2007-08 school year.  Their stipends will be $1,000 each, respectively.

Kerriann Flanagan Brodsky, James Falletti, Eileen Giarratano, Richard Gress, Johnnie Morales, Richard Wos, Robert Mallon, Carmela Stone Klein and Kieran Mock were each appointed instructors in the district’s adult education program.  They will be paid at the rate of $25 per hour.

Olga Yearby’s title was changed from teacher assistant to teacher aide.

Gerriann Bernacke, Kevin Gribbin and Gina Robbins were added to the substitute teacher list.  They will be paid $90 per diem when they work.

Numerous teachers were authorized to work after school helping students prepare for state ELA, science and math exams.  The faculty members, who will be paid $45.77 per hour, which will be funded by a grant, include Jennifer Glatzer (Southdown – three hours per week), Sarah Fardella (Huntington Intermediate – two hours per week) and Linda Cirillo (Flower Hill – three hours per week).

Trustees approved several budget transfers to cover the cost of Woodhull Intermediate School teacher conferences ($1,000), athletic department transportation to tournaments ($7,400) and transportation to Mathletes club competitions ($500).

Bilingual program aide Jackeline Galante was authorized to receive mileage reimbursement at the IRS approved rate for travel between Flower Hill and Southdown primary schools.

Elementary grade level teacher Laura Lipow was recalled from the preferred eligibility list, effective Dec. 1.
