Finley PTA Seeks New Members
The J. Taylor Finley Middle School PTA is seeking new members for the 2010/11 school year. The group's membership drive will continue through the fall until its ranks are filled. A strong push is underway to register all teachers and as many parents as is possible.
Finley PTA membership costs $8 per year and is open to parents, grandparents, neighbors, community members and friends. Members are not required to attend meetings or volunteer for any activities. Naturally, they are welcome to do those things, if they choose. Membership dollars support programs for all students.
This year's slate of officers includes Alice Marie Rorke (president), Maryanne DeSimone (vice-president), Debbie Knowles (vice-president), Christina Plant (recording secretary), Laurene Napurano (corresponding secretary), Karen Dwyer (treasurer), Diane Gallagher (historian) and PTA Council delegates Laura Mills and Lisa Rasco.
"I am looking forward to working with the PTA executive board and [Finley Principal] John Amato, as well as all of the parents and teachers," Ms. Rorke said. "We appreciate everyone's support. We have quite a few things planned. It's going to be a great year!"
Joining the Finley PTA is easy and can be accomplished in many different ways. A check payable to Finley PTA in the amount of $8 should be accompanied by the member's name, address, phone number and e-mail address and can be sent into school with students, dropped off at the main office during school hours, brought to Meet the Teacher Night on Thurs. Sept. 30, submitted at any Finley PTA meeting or mailed to the Finley PTA at 20 Greenlawn Road, Huntington, New York 11743.
Finley PTA members that provide an e-mail address will get periodic meeting reminders and information about school related activities and events.
