Adult Ed Program Registration Set for September 15

The Huntington School District's adult education program will hold fall semester registration on Wednesday, September 15 in the Huntington High School lobby from 6-9 p.m. for a variety of interesting and informative courses. The district has been offering adult education courses to residents for six decades.

Regular course fees are set at $15 for resident senior citizens (60 years of age and over whenever space is available, except for those classes marked special fee or limited), $55 for other district residents and $65 for those living outside the Huntington School District.

Fees vary based on the specific course and the duration of the class. (One day seminars can run as little as $20 for residents.) Fall classes begin the week of September 27.

The fall course bulletin can be found on the district's website at www.hufsd.edu; Click on the School Community tab and then on the adult education link and then "Forms and Files" to access the brochure. The publication contains course locations, room numbers and scheduling information.

The program is consistent with the district's belief that learning is a lifelong process, continuing through every stage of adulthood. "All residents are invited to register and enjoy the benefits of our adult education program," Superintendent John J. Finello said.

Fall courses include Basic Ballroom Workshop, Basketball for Men, Beginner's and Intermediate Italian, Crocheting I, Crocheting II, Essence of Yoga, Golf for Beginners, Hatha Yoga, Internet A to Z, Introduction for Computer Keyboarding, Introduction to Computers Using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Advanced, Painting, Preparation for Citizenship, Simplyicious, Spanish for Beginners, Spanish Level II, Spanish Level III, Indoor Soccer for Men, Indoor Soccer for Women, Zumba and Zumba Gold.

There are several courses offered through Western Suffolk BOCES, including Adult Basic Education (GED) and beginner, intermediate and advanced classes in English as a Second Language.
