Guercio & Guercio Reappointed District Legal Counsel
Huntington School Board members reappointed the law firm of Guercio & Guercio as the district’s general legal counsel with a retainer of $38,500 for the 2010-11 school year.
The contract runs from July 1 through June 30, 2011 and is identical in all respects as last year’s except the retainer is increasing by $1,500 and the litigation rate is going up $5 to $235 per hour. Neither the retainer nor the hourly rate has increased since the 2008/09 school year.
Trustees also reappointed Guercio & Guercio as district labor counsel with a retainer of $80,000 and an hourly rate of $235. The retainer, which is identical to last year’s, covers all negotiation services, grievances, arbitrations and related items. The hourly litigation rate, which covers litigation services other than those related to collective bargaining, is increasing $5 over last year. The hourly rate has not changed since the 2007/08 school year.
