Blue Devil Varsity Boys’ Tennis Finishes 2-12

The Huntington varsity boys’ tennis team finished the spring season with a mark of 2-12.  The Blue Devils were led by sophomores Cole Peters and David Stillman and juniors Max Smoller and Justin Greenidge.

Veteran head coach Jamie Fishlow said the team was “very young and inexperienced.  The players have good skills, but they need to become more competitive during match play.”

The roster included Robert Hughes, Steven Inman, Marco Lagone, Tyler Moore, Dan Rabinowitz, Matt Rubin, Michael Valente and Peter Wagner.  With Lagone being the only senior in the group, virtually the entire team will return next year.  “I am looking forward to seeing what the off-season work will bring,” Fishlow said.

The coach said that Smoller displayed “good skill from the baseline,” but “typically played superior competition” in the No. 1 singles position.  Stillman was called an “up and coming player who with work can develop,” Fishlow said.

The Blue Devils will compete in League II again next year.
