Trustees Approve Personnel Moves

 

Huntington School Board members have approved requests for retirement from longtime teachers Arlene Ricco, Jean Bartsch and Anne Kelly and custodian Paul Chilcott. 

 

Trustees granted leaves of absence for Scott Armyn, Marybeth Robinette, Nancy Allard and Angela Berner from their teaching positions.  Mr. Armyn (Jack Abrams School dean of students), Ms. Robinette (STEP coordinator), Ms. Allard (K-2/K-6 data coordinator) and Ms. Berner (ELA coordinator K-6) will be serving in other positions during the 2009/10 school year.

 

Short-term leaves of absence were approved for teacher Blake Woodworth, teacher aides Stephany Moore and Denise DePasquale and security guard Cable Jamison.

 

Trustees accepted resignations from teacher aide Tyrone Alvarado and Huntington’s Director of Guidance Peter Paternostro.  Probationary appointments were given to teacher Rebecca Arlin (special education) and to David Casamento, who will serve as district director of science/instructional technology.

 

School Board members also approved additional work for dozens of teachers, teacher aides, nurses and secretaries related to the mentor-intern program, special education summer programs, driver education, foreign language and dual language support, sports physicals and re-qualifications, student registration and records management, peer mediation training, technology, grant writing, the opening and closing of schools, adult education and curriculum writing for various academic programs.

 

Trustees rescinded the excessing of teachers Elizabeth Moran, Kristin Kopf and Alan Kuver and teacher aides Karen LaMonica and Susan Schedeler.  Teachers Deidre Mayer, Marisa Damiano and Laura Lipow were recalled from the preferred eligibility list.  Assistant Superintendent David H. Grackin was approved to serve as the back-up Title IX compliance officer for the district.

 

School Board members approved the addition of numerous individuals to the substitute list to cover the duties of employees when they are absent.
