Dear Parents and Guardians:
The new school year is rapidly approaching. I hope you are all having a restful and enjoyable summer. At Finley, we are polishing and preparing for another rewarding year. I have enclosed your child's class schedule and locker assignment for the new school year. Students and parents will be able to visit Finley to tour the building and open the lockers on Friday, September 2nd. For 7th graders the building will be open from 8:30 AM until 11:00 AM. For 8th graders the building will be open from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Mrs. Cain and Mr. Lowe, the guidance counselors, will be in the building to answer questions about the schedules and to provide any information needed for you and your child. Of course, Mr. Parham and I will be there to answer questions as well. There will not be a formal presentation. This is a student and parent tour and visitation day.
The first day of school is Wednesday, September 7th. This year there is a new homeroom starting time. The homeroom bell rings at 8:00 AM to begin the Pledge of Allegiance and the morning announcements. All students are expected to be at homeroom on time every day. The daily bell schedule is available on the district website on the "Finley" link. For students who take buses, the bus stop information and time will be mailed separately. For walkers and parent drop-offs, please follow the directions of our security guards, Ms. Philbert and Mr. Hankinson. We encourage parents to drop-off students by 7:50 so that they have enough time to go to their lockers and get to homeroom.
Parents can check my E-Board for more information as we move closer to September 7th. All supply lists from teachers will be posted on the district website under "Finley". Any parents who would like to be added to my parent e-mail group should just send me a quick e-mail. The parent e-mail group is used to send essential information quickly. Enjoy the rest of the summer vacation.
Sincerely,
Mr. Amato
