The Teacher Center at Huntington

The Huntington Teacher Center offers a variety of in-service and graduate courses, workshops, seminars and programs to faculty and support-staff members and others in the educational community.  Classes are designed to enhance and sharpen instructional skills and classroom practices, build knowledge, expand professional horizons and assist in improving student academic performance.  Located on the second floor of the high school, the Teacher Center was one of the first of its kind in the state.

Classes are offered after school, evenings, weekends and during the summer.  The Teacher Center is funded through a mix of district funds and state grant monies.  In addition to hiring its own course instructors, the Teacher Center offers courses and programs of study in cooperation with area colleges and universities and the New York State United Teachers at deeply discounted tuition rates.  It also serves as a resource for staff and community members searching for courses offered at other Long Island teacher centers or for books and materials.
