Blue Devil Seniors Earn Boys’ Soccer Awards
July 30, 2025
Huntington varsity boys’ soccer head coach John Pagano presented four graduating players with special honors at the 57th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards ceremony in the high school auditorium.
Colin Lennon (Most Valuable Defense), Carlos Marroquin (Most Valuable Offense), Nicholas Plachta (Coaches Award) and Jayden Schneider (Coaches Award) were all recognized before a crowd of about 300.
A Huntington English teacher, Pagano is assisted by Woodhull Intermediate School classroom teacher Jason Suarez. Pagano is a SUNY Cortland graduate and is among the winningest current coaches in Suffolk.
“Our boys’ soccer team once again represented Huntington well, upholding our high school’s awesome tradition in the sport,” master of ceremonies Michael Schwendemann said. “While the season didn’t result in playoff heroics, it did set the stage for future success. The Blue Devils are expected to be one of Suffolk’s finest in the fall.”
Lennon is headed to Siena College in the fall. Marroquin plans to study at Suffolk Community College. Plachta will be attending Georgetown University. Schneider intends to pursue a degree at Utica University.
The Blue Devil boys’ soccer team graduated 10 players this past June in Estyven Arreaga Merida, Emiliano Colman Britez, Bradley Contreras, Colin Lennon, Antonio Leotta, Christopher Lopez Ramirez, Kevin Maldonado-Molina, Carlos Marroquin, Nicholas Plachta and Jayden Schneider.
Despite the loss of so much experience and talent, Pagano expects to send a very talented team onto the field this coming season. The Blue Devils will be playing in League II.
