Mia Molina-Baptista Presented Principal’s Award

July 30, 2025

Mia Molina-Baptista made all four years count at Huntington High School. The Class of 2025 member is the recipient of Rochelle C. Brown’s first Principal’s Award. Ms. Brown recently completed her first year as the high school principal.

“It was very difficult to select a student to be the recipient of my first Principal’s Award here at Huntington High School,” Ms. Brown said. “I have had the pleasure of getting to know an amazing group of students from my PAC members, to the morning announcers, to the athletes, to the musicians. Please know that you are all very special to me. On the first day of school, this smiling young lady stopped  by my office to introduce herself and ask me if I was planning to continue the Principal Advisory Committee. We got to chat for a little about her high school experience and from there a connection was made.”

Recognized as a Distinguished Senior, Ms. Molina-Baptista plans to study business at SUNY College at Geneseo. “I believe my mindset has been the key to my success,” she said. “I start every day with a positive attitude and remind myself that I can get through anything; giving up is never an option. What I’ve enjoyed most about high school is the growth process, from being a freshman to becoming a senior Whether it was making new friendships or learning from failed exams, every experience helped me grow and appreciate more.”

“Over the year, I got to witness her amazing musical talents in the play, musical and even during World Language Night when she serenaded us with a beautiful song in French and I was just blown away,” Ms. Brown said. “As I continued to watch her blossom, I also noticed how she took many underclassmen under her wing to give advice and guidance. She may not have realized that I was observing these conversations that happened in the hallway and sometimes outside my office door during bake sales. This student truly embodies the spirit of Huntington.”
