Dylan Proctor Wins Joseph Michael West Scholarship
July 23, 2025
There’s no argument from anyone that Dylan Proctor has been one of Huntington High School’s best. The Class of 2025 graduate is this year’s recipient of the Joseph Michael West Vocational/STEM Scholarship following an exceptional four year run.
To be considered for the scholarship a graduating senior must plan on either studying a trade or pursuing a college academic major in or related to science, technology, engineering or math.
Candidates for the award must be creative, ambitious, goal-oriented and scholarly. “It is preferred if the candidate is a hands-on learner and enjoys working on projects of any kind both in and out of the classroom,” states the scholarship criteria.
Huntington school counselor Daphne Ali announced the names of this year’s recipient at the senior scholarships and awards ceremony in the high school auditorium.
An Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, Mr. Proctor plans to study aviation and flight science at Western Michigan University. He is a member of multiple academic honor societies and was recognized as a Distinguished Senior.
“The key to my success has been giving 100 percent effort in everything school related and having the constant support of my parents, who have always had my back,” Mr. Proctor said. “Over the past four years, I’ve especially enjoyed making great friends through winter and spring track and advancing my career through the Wilson Tec aviation class.
Among the six honor societies of which Mr. Proctor has been inducted is the National Technical Honor Society.
