H-ton Duo’s Films in
First Exposure Festival

The remarkable short films of Huntington High School juniors Samantha Carroll and Olivia Liepa will be screened at the Eighth Annual First Exposure Festival at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington on Saturday, May 17 at 4 p.m.

The two teenagers are promising young filmmakers who earlier this year won top honors at the Long Island Media Arts Show at Five Towns College in Dix Hills. Their short films are among 15 selected for this year’s First Exposure Festival.

The festival will honor the student-artists for their “hard work and dedication to the craft of filmmaking.” The event is sponsored by the Suffolk County Film Commission. Each of the participating filmmakers will receive a DVD compilation of the 15 films and Certificate of Recognition from Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone.

“I am so excited to have both Best in Show Award winners from the Long Island Media Arts Show be accepted into the First Exposure Film Festival, said teacher Heather Swan, who heads Huntington High School’s video arts program. “I am so proud of the dedication that both Sam and Olivia have displayed this year.”

Admission to the festival is free and there is open seating. However, reservations are strongly encouraged. Call (631) 423-7611 extension 18 to secure a seat. A reception will follow the screening.

Each of the 15 films will also be evaluated by officials from the Cinema Arts Centre, Stony Brook Film Festival and the Hamptons International Film Festival for possible inclusion in their respective programs.

The Cinema Arts Centre is located at 423 Park Avenue in Huntington. Visit www.cinemaartscentre.org for more information about the CAC and its programs.
