Booster Club Offering Four One-Day Winter Camps
The Huntington Booster Club is sponsoring four one-day winter camps during the upcoming vacation. There will be sessions for girls’ and boys’ lacrosse, boys’ basketball and boys’ soccer.
Each camp is priced at $40. The fee includes a winter hat. The camp flyer is posted on the Huntington School District’s website at www.hufsd.edu. To access the brochure click on the Athletics link and then on the Summer Programs tab on the left side of the screen.
Visit the Huntington Booster Club’s website at www.huntingtonboosterclub.com to register for the summer camp program. (While mail registration is also available the online option is the preferred method.) Walk-up registration the day of the camps is also welcome.
This will mark the first time the Huntington Booster Club will be offering a winter camp program. Three of the camps will be held at Huntington High School. A fourth camp is slated for J. Taylor Finley Middle School gym.
The camps include:
• Monday, December 22 from 2:30-6:00 p.m. – Girls’ lacrosse for grades 6-8 at Huntington High School with varsity head coach Kathy Wright.
• Tuesday, December 23 from 2:30-6:00 p.m. – Boys’ lacrosse for grades 4-7 at Huntington High School with new varsity head coach Kevin Travis.
• Monday, December 29 from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Boys’ basketball for grades 3-7 at Finley Middle School with coach Tim Madden.
• Tuesday, December 30 from 2:30 6:00 p.m. – Boys’ soccer for grades 3-7 at Huntington High School with varsity head coach John Pagano.
“What could be better than your child having fun playing the sport they love, while you have 3 ½ hours to complete the last minute shopping at the mall or just relax with the kids out of the house,” said Booster Club camp director Tim Madden said in a message to parents. “Each clinic will be a great experience for your athlete. “They will compete in games and fun contests while improving their skill level.”
Planning is also underway for a January 2015 girls’ basketball “parent’s night out” clinic. Details about the event are expected to be released soon.
