Washington Ways April Honorees
are all Smiles

The smiles on their faces made for a priceless photo. A group of Washington Primary School students was honored for their spectacular all-around performance in their respective classrooms and throughout the building during April.
The honorees included John Song, Teah Login, Elizabeth Waters, Patrick Tito, Emilia Moreira, Ruby Meidenman, Sonia Acevedo-Ortiz, Jacqueline Poulis, Danielle Mendikyan, Ian Husselback, Nicole Boucetta, Faith Andrews, Stephanie Reyes, Henry Stein, Jonathan Larice, Emily Plachta, Lizbeth Almendarez, Alex Gonzalez, Maikol Arreaga, Jared Mullen and Isabella DiBenedetto. The top classes in April included those of Melissa Lang, Debbie Lawrence and Joanne Tures.
"We are so proud of these outstanding boys and girls," Principal Marsha Neville said. "They are wonderful role models for their classmates." The students were given snazzy certificates and posed for a commemorative photo in the school lobby.
The Washington Ways student recognition program utilizes three different colors of tickets, which are a hot commodity around the school. Red tickets are presented to individuals for notable good behavior outside of classrooms, including hallways, buses, the playground and cafeteria, etc. At the end of the month, the student in each class with the greatest number of red tickets is recognized with a special certificate.
Entire classes can earn blue tickets for positive group behavior out-of-the-classroom. Blue tickets are also awarded to the two classes within the building with the most tickets overall. Students enjoy being cited and collecting the colorful tickets.
White tickets are awarded weekly for good behaviors and actions in the classroom. White ticket winners are honored with special recognition in their classroom at the end of each week and their names are announced every Monday morning.
