Huntington Alum Wins College Academic Award

Julie Forster, a member of Huntington High School's Class of 2008, has been named the 2013 America East Conference Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Forster earned a bachelor's degree a full year early last spring, graduating with a 3.96 GPA in educational administration. She has a 3.88 GPA in UAlbany's business administration master's degree program. A three-time America East All-Academic honoree, she was twice selected to the Capital One University Division Academic All-America Division I First Team and is a multiple America East Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree.
On the court, the Blue Devil alum was a first-team All-America East selection, helping to lead the Great Danes to their second-straight America East title in 2012/13. This season, Forster ranked third in the conference in rebounding (8.4 per game) while averaging 9.6 points. She also made indelible marks on the record books, becoming the first UAlbany women's basketball player and just the third in America East history to eclipse the 1,100 career mark in both points and rebounds.
Forster became the first Albany women's player to ever record 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. She ends her college career with a program-leading 1,149 boards.
At Huntington, Forster played on four different varsity teams. She made her most lasting impact in basketball, where she scored more than 1,000 points. Forster helped lead the Blue Devils to three straight trips to the Suffolk finals and the 2008 Section XI crown. A five-time varsity basketball letter winner, she won All-County and All-State honors twice.
