A Tradition of Excellence since 1657

Huntington's 152nd Commencement Exercises Friday at 6 p.m.

A Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard will lead Huntington High School's Class of 2013 into Blue Devil Stadium at 6 p.m. Friday night for the school's 152nd commencement exercises. A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected to attend.

The ceremony will include traditional addresses by valedictorian Todd Colvin and salutatorian Molly Prep along with Principal Carmela Leonardi, Superintendent James W. Polansky and Huntington School Board President Emily Rogan.

Several seniors will take leading roles in the event. Jonathan Wood will serve as master of ceremonies. Laura Ironman, John Cronin, Samantha Dever, Collin Richardson and Joshua and Kevin Solomowitz will introduce various officials prior to their addresses.

The chamber choir seniors will sing Francis Scott Key's Star Spangled Banner. Class of 2013 faculty advisors Lauren Desiderio and Donna Nugent will announce the names of the graduates as they make their way to the stage.

The school orchestra consisting of underclassmen under the direction of teacher-conductor Lisa Leonardi will perform processional and recessional selections. Stephanie Quesquen and Isabel Casey will carry the school banner into Blue Devil Stadium. Mr. Wood will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Class of 2013 President Stephanie Rafuse will announce the presentation of a gift to the high school early in the commencement program. School Board members will present the seniors with their diplomas.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move indoors to the cavernous high school auditorium.
