HHS PTSA Selling Personalized
Plaza Bricks
It is equal parts fundraiser and outdoor beautification project. The Huntington High School PTSA is selling engraved bricks, which will be laid within the plaza near the school's main entrance.
Organizers of the initiative are reaching out to current students and their families, alumni and the local business community. Many bricks have been purchased as a memorial to departed graduates. The initiative initially debuted in 2008 with periodic installations of new bricks.
Different size bricks are available. A 4" x 8" brick can be purchased for $100. It offers space for three lines of 14 characters each for engraving. An 8" x 8" brick is available for $150. It provides space for six lines of 14 characters each.
"Our brick program is off and running after a bit of a hiatus," said Alice Marie Rorke. "We are selling the bricks to all families interested, especially those with graduating seniors."
Several new memorial bricks were installed in front of the high school last week as part of the program. Proceeds are earmarked for the PTSA's scholarship fund.
The personalized bricks are being crafted by North Shore Monuments and professionally installed by Harbor View Construction. Huntington High School alum Anthony Porco is donating labor for the installation. The next installation is scheduled for this coming spring.
