District Continues Student Re-Registration Process
A student re-registration process that the Huntington School District implemented last year will continue this spring for incoming Woodhull Intermediate School fifth graders and Huntington High School ninth graders.
The district is sending a letter to the parents/guardians of current fourth and eighth graders, informing them about the documents they will need to present during the process.
"In an effort to ensure that we are effectively meeting our residency requirements and our fiscal responsibilities, we are continuing our re-registration process," Assistant Superintendent Joseph Giani wrote in a letter to parents.
Students entering the fourth and ninth grades "must re-register in order to continue attending our schools for the 2013-2014 school year," according to Mr. Giani.
Parents/guardians who own their home are asked to provide:
• A current tax bill, homeowner insurance policy or mortgage statement.
• In addition, three of the following items must also be submitted: current utility bill (water, electric, gas or cable) or Social Service statements, medical bills, pay stubs or credit card statements.
Parents/guardians who rent their home are asked to provide:
• A current lease agreement or property owner affidavit. The affidavit must be notarized by the property owner.
• In addition, three of the following items must also be submitted: current utility bill (water, electric, gas or cable) or Social Service statements, medical bills, pay stubs or credit card statements.
Parents must present the documents to the main office secretary at their respective child's school by Tuesday, April 2. "Adhering to this deadline will ensure there are no delays in class assignments for the upcoming year and avoid any residency complications," Mr. Giani wrote in his letter.
