A Tradition of Excellence since 1657

Follow HUFSD on Facebook and Twitter

The Huntington School District's move into the world of social media continues to draw followers who are interested in keeping up with events, accomplishments and happenings.

The district continues to maintain an elaborate website (hufsd.edu) that features new stories and photos every school day. The website has seen more traffic this year than ever before as visitors log on from a variety of platforms at home, at their offices and on the go.

As the public's appetite for even more information has grown, the district decided to develop Facebook and Twitter pages to meet the interests of those devoted to these communication tools. Word is still spreading about the Huntington School District's social media sites, but an increasing number of parents, students, alumni and residents are visiting these new pages and following what's going on in the district.

Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky readily admits that "communication is critical in any community." The district's website continues to evolve and is still the backbone of the effort to share news and important information. But, the district's Facebook and Twitter pages are also growing in popularity, especially among those who routinely use their handheld devices to access the internet.

To find the Huntington School District's Twitter page go to www.twitter.com/hufsd. The district hopes to eventually have several thousand Twitter followers.

To find the Huntington School District's Facebook page, copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Huntington-Union-Free-School-District/566089583408611. The number of page subscribers is increasing as users spread the word to friends about its availability.

The district has established Facebook posting guidelines to prevent abuse. A copy of the guidelines can be found on Huntington's Facebook page itself. Those posting items will be held to a very high standard, Mr. Polansky said.
