Blue Devil Sports News

This is another important week for Huntington High School senior Hannah Burnett as she helps lead the Blue Devil girls' lacrosse team into battle against Eastport-South Manor and Miller Place, two squads with playoff hopes.

Last week, Burnett tallied 15 goals and 15 assists in three Huntington victories over Kings Park (16-15 in double overtime), Bellport (14-4) and John H. Glenn (18-7).

"It was a really solid week for us," Burnett said. "We were able to pick up some big wins and every game we are improving. I'm feeling stronger every game as well. My teammates are able to set me up to score and put the ball in the net. We're beginning to connect on all cylinders offensively and defensively."

Huntington is 6-1 in Suffolk Division II play and 7-1 overall. It hopes to pick up two more wins this week before hosting Harborfields next Monday (April 29) at Blue Devil Stadium at 4 p.m.

"This week will be a real test to see where we are at," Burnett said. "We have some hard teams on our schedule but I know our team is up for the challenge."
