PTA Fashion Starz Produces Fun and Surprises

The stars really were shining at last week's "Fashion Starz" at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The annual joint fundraiser of the Huntington High School PTSA and the J. Taylor Finley Middle School PTA drew a crowd of parents, teachers, administrators and students together for a worthy cause.

Faculty members modeled fashions provided by Marsh's and Francine's Fashion Boutique. Huntington High School seniors were also on hand to take a stroll down the runway. The young women modeled prom fashions from Pink Link and Francine's while the young men looked dashing in tuxedos from Lester's.

"It was a wonderful evening for all in attendance," Superintendent James W. Polansky said. "Guests could not get enough of our staff and students modeling the latest fashions on the runway. Great company and a broad selection of raffle prizes rounded out the evening. A sincere thank you to the Finley PTA and Huntington High School PTSA on their hard work and efforts toward making the event a tremendous success."

The evening was organized by Laurene Napurano, Alice Marie Rorke, Laura Mills, Debbie Knowles, Marilyn Maggio, Julie LaBella and Nancy DiGiacomo. The night featured a delicious hors d'oeuvres hour, dinner, raffle baskets and dancing. The dinner included a Caprese salad, chicken Francaise and tilapia, vegetables, rolled chocolate cake, ice cream roll with berry sauce and assorted cookies. "The dinner was great," Mrs. Napurano said.

Huntington High School Principal Carmela Leonardi and Finley Principal John Amato surprised the crowd by gracing the runway as part of the grand finale to what many participants said was "a fabulous and exciting show."

The models strutted down the runway to upbeat music provided by DJ Joe Iavaroni of Diamond Dreams. A crowd that numbered 180 had a blast.

"The evening was a huge success and a fun time was had by all," Mrs. Mills said.
