Spring Sports Participation Strong
at HHS

Spring season sports participation is running strong at Huntington High School, according to figures released by the athletic department. Coaches reported a total of 357 student-athletes on the rosters of the 13 teams the school fielded.

The varsity girls' track and field team has the largest roster with 55 athletes, followed by the boys' track and field squad with 53 and varsity co-ed crew with 45. The Blue Devil varsity boys' lacrosse team has 40 players with 35 players suiting up for the junior varsity boys' lacrosse team.

The varsity girls' lacrosse squad features 25 players. The varsity baseball team has 18 players while the JV baseball team boasts 17 players. The JV girls' lacrosse team's roster numbers 16. The JV boys' tennis team has 15 players. The JV softball team consists of 14 players. There are 12 players on both the varsity softball and varsity boys' tennis teams.

According to Huntington Director of Athletic Georgia D. McCarthy, the seven boys' teams have 190 participants while the five girls' squads consist of 122 athletes on their rosters. The one co-ed team (crew) has 45 members. There are 22 coaches involved with the high school spring program.
