Southdown's Community Day Set
for April 27
The third annual Southdown School PTA Community Day is set for Saturday, April 27. It promises to be fun for folks of all ages.
The grounds of the Browns Road school will spring to life with a huge garage sale, live music, lawn games, car wash, lemonade stand, food drive and a variety of other fun activities. There will even be a sports equipment swap for students.
Community members willing to donate items for the garage sale should drop them off at the school on Saturday, April 27 between 8-10 a.m. Proceeds will go to the PTA to support its school-related activities. The garage sale will be open for business between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Leftover items will be donated to one or more service organizations in Huntington.
Garage sale items are expected to include everything from toys, books and clothes to furniture, entertainment items and rugs and much more. It wouldn't be surprising if skilled garage sale hunters find hidden treasure among the hundreds of goods on sale.
The past two Community Days drew large crowds that came together to enjoy games, tours of a fire truck and ambulance, music, food and refreshments. This year's special day is still taking shape, but organizers feel there will be something to please everyone. There will even be ice cream and even baked items on sale.
Southdown is located at the intersection of Southdown and Browns Roads in Huntington. To get involved, donate garage sale items or just get answers to your questions, contact Community Day organizer Valerie Kellogg at 516-617-1106 or kelloggvalerie@yahoo.com.
