Huntington Idol Finalist Field Set

With so many talented performers among the finalist field in this year's Huntington Music Idol, competition for top honors is expected to be especially lively. Fans of the entertainers will fill the Huntington High School auditorium on Friday April 19 at 7 p.m. for the championship round.

Approximately 90 singers auditioned for a spot in the show. A point system will determine the high school and middle school division award winners. The audience will help choose the recipient of Best Entertainer Award. The auditorium doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the finals Tickets are available at the door for $10.

The event is once again being coordinated by Lisa Leonardi a Huntington music teacher and orchestra director. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Huntington High School orchestra scholarships.

The finalist field includes Brianne Bennett, Jackie Contino, Julia Rogan, Valerie Guerrero, Alyssa Befumo, Alexandra McKenzie, Elizabeth Roman, Miranda Nykolyn, Yardalie Daniel, Olivia Liepa, Danielle Melgar, Sarah James, Melany Lanham-Ciancia, Anna Schiffmacher, Madeline Shea, Justin Waite, Chloe Liepa, Alyssa Fox, Mattison Chadwick, Luis Cuji, Equislaure Gabriel, Landary Rivas, Arianna Pereca, Olivia Baldanza, Kaiya Idler, Camryn Libes, Thomas Stock, Nick Freiman, Ben Rosen-Packard, Annalise Mozer, Michaela Carnesi, Ela Gonzalez, Angela He, Theresa Moreno, Kristin Berner, Bailey Riordan and Anna Ardell.

Jessica Tucker and Lindsay Sullivan performed a special duet rap during the semi-finals, singing Nicki Minaj's Super Bass with full acrobatics. "They were a fantastic novelty act," Ms. Leonardi said.

A panel of judges scored the semi-final performance of each contestant. "For the first time in Huntington, we are allowing all the contestants to move on to the finals," Ms. Leonardi said. "They will have a chance to improve their scores there."
