Huntington Set to Battle KP in Huge Saturday Game

With a home playoff game most likely riding on the outcome, the Huntington High School football team will host rugged Kings Park on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Blue Devil Stadium.
Huntington is a surprising 5-2 this fall and sits in fifth place in 14-team Suffolk Division III. Kings Park is also 5-2, after losing last week to Sayville, 42-9. The Kingsmen are in third place since they have a higher power rating based on the strength of the team's schedule.
The Blue Devils are coming off a 28-14 victory at Hauppauge last Saturday night. Huntington's Troy Greene enjoyed a career performance, rushing 25 times for 239 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Ben Kocis completed five-of-seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown pass to Tyler Greenhill. Placekicker Patrick Reilly converted all four of his extra point chances.
Against Hauppauge, Devon Nelson returned to play, bolstering the Blue Devil defense. Nelson, who was sidelined during Huntington's homecoming game against Amityville, contributed six solo tackles and two assists against the Eagles. He's expected to return to the backfield on Saturday.
Huntington's defense also received strong efforts against Hauppauge from Levar Butts (12 tackles, including four for a loss), Shaheem Lewis (eight tackles and one sack) and John Mallouk (eight tackles, including two for a loss). Josh Long recorded two tackles, including one for a loss, a pass deflection and an interception.
A big crowd of Blue Devil fans is expected to be in the bleachers for Saturday's game.
