Impressive Performances for
Blue Devil CC
A series of standout performances at the Suffolk Officials Meet left Huntington High School boys' cross country coach Shawn Anderson quite pleased. The action played out last weekend at Sunken Meadow State Park as most of the county's best runners vied for top honors.
Huntington senior Thomas Boisclair placed 17th in the Varsity A race, sweeping across the touch, hilly 5K course in a personal best time of 18:40. "That is almost a minute faster than his previous best, averaging 6:01 per mile," Anderson said.
Blue Devil freshman Kyle O'Brien finished second in the 1.5 mile race, crossing the finish line in 8:00 for a 5:20 per mile pace. O'Brien's time marked a 14-second improvement from his previous race. The teenager battled the eventual race winner down the stretch, only to be nipped by one second. O'Brien currently has the fifth best time among all Suffolk freshmen this fall.
Blue freshman Ethan Dwyer also notched a personal best when he placed 17th in 1.5mile race in a time of 8:47 for an impressive 5:52 mile pace. The Huntington freshman team of O'Brien, Dwyer, Riley Mello, John Arias and Kyle Mock combined to place fifth in the team standings.
