Finley Sports Participation
Remains High

Year after year, the interscholastic sports program at J. Taylor Finley Middle School has been inordinately popular with the seventh and eighth graders there. The Falcons have had their fair share of powerful squads. That tradition is continuing this fall as more than one-third of the building's enrollment is a member of one of the seven teams.
Finley's seventh grade football team is the school's largest with 43 players. The girls' soccer squad has a roster of 42, which the co-ed cross country team has 38 runners this fall. The eighth grade gridiron team fields a squad of 35. Boys' soccer (32 players), field hockey (28) and girls' tennis (14) also have high levels of interest.
In all, there are 232 students spread over Finley's fall teams. The total includes 110 on three boys' teams, 84 on the three girls' squads and 38 on the one co-ed team. In all, there are 137 boys participating in the fall program and 95 girls.
