Tesoriero Plays on National Tournament Team
Huntington High School freshman girls' lacrosse goalie Anna Tesoriero recently played on the U.S. Long Island Metro 3 team that went undefeated against regional powerhouse squads in their bracket in the national tournament school girls' division.
Blue Devil coach Nancy Wilson nominated Tesoriero for the team earlier this spring. More than 300 varsity players tried out for the squad and the Huntington teenager was one of six goalies selected for the elite team.
The Long Island Metro 3 defeated Lower New England 2 (8-5), New Jersey South 2 (8-7), DC Metro 3 (13-4) and Upstate New York (14-10) in pool play and then topped Lower New England 3 in the championship game, 10-6. Tesoriero played a significant role in the Long Island team's success.
