Blue Devil Lax Alumni Present Awards

The annual Huntington High School boys' lacrosse alumni game is a well-established tradition that is expected to continue for many years to come. This year's contest drew the same spirited level of play that has been a staple of the gathering. The alums are a loyal bunch, always ready to lend a hand to the program. This year they honored graduating seniors Dan Plant and Colleen Wright during a halftime ceremony.
The alumni game was played on Blue Devil Stadium's synthetic turf field. The contest drew players from five different decades, including several recent college stars. While the graduates were taking a well-earned halftime break, Blue Devil varsity coaches Paul McDermott and Nancy Wilson spoke eloquently about what Mr. Plant and Ms. Wright have meant to the boys' and girls' teams.
The teenagers were presented with handsome plaques before a crowd of about 300. They were honored for demonstrating "the spirit and determination" associated with Huntington lacrosse.
Mr. Plant is headed to Rutgers University on a lacrosse scholarship. He earned All-County honors with the Blue Devils last spring. Ms. Wright will be attending Iona College on a lacrosse scholarship. She was All-Division for Huntington this past season.
