Tri-M Welcomes 35 New Members
into Ranks

There's just something about music. It captivates our imaginations and lifts our hearts and minds. It soothes and inspires, enlightens and entertains. It moves entire civilizations and enhances individual lives.
A capacity crowd filled the School Heritage Museum at Huntington High School for last week's Tri-M Music Honor Society induction ceremony. The evening saw 35 new members join the organization's ranks along with Superintendent James W. Polansky, who was given an honorary life membership.
With Tri-M President Matthew Petryk, Vice-President Collin Richardson, Secretary Melanie Grossman, Treasurer Francesca Gray and Historian Adelia Witt presiding, a talented and dedicated set of student-musicians entered the fold of one of Huntington's most prestigious and active honor societies.
The inductees include Rebecca Alligood, Matthew Angeliadis, Jessica Baik, Jonathan Engle, Marc Feldman, Jesse Feldman-Stein, Nina Flores, Robert Folan, Katherine Gerdes, Brian Gilbert, Alexa Gorczycki, Alexandra Grabowski, Judith Greco, Chelsea Holmes, Christian Jamison, Alexa Kaplan, Brianna Kirkland, Brian McConnell, Ashley Melgar, Emily Mormile, Benjamin Nikodem, Monica Owen, Olivia Palmer, Margaret Petryk, Hannah Pipolo, Matthew Rosenbauer, Benjamin Rosen-Packard, Anna Schiffmacher, Stephanie Shea, Kevin Solomowitz, Joshua Solomowitz, Michael Stafford, Joshua Stickell, Jonathan Wood and Samuel Yanuck.
"This is an impressive group of young men and women," said Veronica Mainville, Tri-M's faculty advisor and the high school choral director. "We are very pleased to welcome these talented musicians into the music honor society."
In addition to the executive board officers, the organization's continuing members include Matthew Beeby, Brianne Bennett, Kristina Casale, Andrea Cerini, Jacqueline Contino, James Ferraiolo, Daniel Gallagher, Andrew Ku, Justin LoScalzo, Michael Marchetta, Kathryn Petrozzo, Jennifer Polster and Jeffrey Sun.
Each of the continuing members stood before the large crowd and spoke about the importance of music in their life. "The students were very well-spoken," Mr. Polansky said. "It was really interesting to hear personal testimonials."
The audience was treated to several impressive musical presentations by Tri-M members. James Ferraiolo, Jennifer Polster, Melanie Grossman and Adelia Witt formed a splendid string quartet and performed "Lover's Waltz." Francesca Gray played "Fantaisie Caprice" on clarinet. Matthew Petryk (accompanied by Mrs. Mainville on piano) performed "Sicilienne" on cello. Kristina Casale sang (with Mrs. Mainville again accompanying on piano) a stirring rendition of "Hallelujah."
"We are so proud of all the Tri-M members for working hard to develop their musical talents," Principal Carmela Leonardi said.
