Festive Holiday Concert Planned for Dec. 19
This year's Huntington High School holiday concert promises to be a festive affair. A large crowd is expected to attend the free event, which is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are not required.
"I encourage our Huntington community members to pause for a moment from their holiday preparations to enjoy a wonderful evening of music performed by our high school orchestra and choir students," said Joan R. Fretz, district director of fine and performing arts.
The concert will include a variety of holiday and classical selections. The string orchestra and symphony orchestra will each perform under the direction of teacher Lisa Leonardi. Teacher Veronica Mainville will direct Huntington's well-regarded chamber and concert choirs.
As is tradition, the evening's finale will be the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah. All alumni and community members in attendance are invited to join current high school students for the finale by either singing or playing.
"We will have extra music for singers and will provide instruments if they are requested in advance," said Ms. Fretz, who can be reached a jfretz@hufsd.edu.
Students have been rehearsing for weeks in preparation for the concert. "The Huntington High School holiday concert is always a memorable way to reconnect with old friends and get in the holiday spirit," Ms. Fretz said.
