Huntington School Briefs

A retirement party in honor of Woodhull Intermediate School teacher Joanne Holsclaw will be held on Wednesday, June 22 from 5-9 p.m. at The Harbor Club in Halesite. The event includes a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner and dessert, with coffee and tea. Various refreshments will be available throughout the party.

To secure a seat, send $60 per person (includes gift) by June 3 to Angela Turner or Cynthia Vitulli at Woodhull School. Call 673-2030 for more information.

Washington at Ducks Game

The Washington School PTA hosted a special night at a recent Long Island Ducks game at Bethpage Stadium in Central Islip. About 90 parents and students enjoyed the evening game and the in-game festivities and contests. They dined on typical ballpark fare. Washington PTA co-Presidents Shari Harris and Terry Moreno said everyone in attendance had a good time.

Retirement Party for Len Mendola

A retirement party honoring Woodhull Intermediate School psychologist Dr. Leonard Mendola will be held on Wednesday, June 1 from 6-10 p.m. at The Harbor Club in Halesite. The event will feature a buffet dinner and unlimited refreshments. To secure a seat, send $60 per person (includes gift) to either Victor Matarasso (Huntington High School) or Joanie Verrelli (Woodhull School) as soon as possible.

Washington Softball Game

Washington Primary School's 10th annual softball game pitting faculty and staff against a team of parents will be held on Saturday, June 4 at noon on the Huntington High School softball field. All proceeds generated by the game will be contributed to the Washington School PTA.

If the faculty and staff team wins the game, students will be given a week free of homework! A contest for students will be held to determine the most creative original sign or object supporting either team. Special game t-shirts will be awarded to the five students with the best entries.

Teacher Retirement Party

A retirement party for Jefferson Primary School teachers Ruth Youngquist and Susan Terry-Bazer will be held on Monday, June 13 from 4-6 p.m. at F.H. Riley's on New York Avenue in Huntington village.

The event will include a variety of hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, coffee, tea and a special retirement cake. To secure a seat, send $40 per person (includes gift) by June 6 to Barbara Abrahamson or Jennie Higgins at Jefferson School. Checks should be made payable to Barbara Abrahamson.
