Blue Devil Lax Wins Two
Will Coffey scored three goals and added an assist as the Huntington boys' lacrosse team turned back Bayport-Blue Point, 12-5 before a big crowd last Saturday morning at Blue Devil Stadium.
The teams scored two goals apiece in the first quarter. Huntington went on a 9-2 run over the next two frames to put the game away. The victory improved the Blue Devils to 7-2 in league play, 9-2 overall.
P.J. Beach (2g, 1a), Duncan Murchison (2g, 1a), Jim Roselle (2g), Jack Cutrone (1g, 2a), Jack Castelli (1g), Dan Plant (1g) and Pat O'Brien (1a) also pitched in with strong offensive performances.
Huntington senior John McGrath was once again on top of his game, stopping 15 shots in goal.
Two days earlier, Blue Devil senior Jim Roselle scored a career best six goals and added an assist to lift over visiting Westhampton Beach, 9-5. The Blue Devils used four answered four quarter goals to seal the victory.
Huntington led after one quarter, 2-1 and was ahead at halftime, 4-3. Westhampton Beach battled with a pair of third quarter goals to tie the score, 5-5. But, the Blue Devil offense was unstoppable the rest of the way.
Jack Castelli added a goal and an assist. Jack Cutrone picked up three assists and Tyre Brown added another. John McGrath made seven saves in goal.
