Notre Dame midfielder Kailene Abt is one of the greatest athletes in Blue Devil history. Since graduating from Huntington in 2007, she has earned three varsity letters playing for the Fighting Irish. Abt has appeared in 64 games, starting 49 of them, scored 93 goals and added 26 assists. She has picked up 64 ground balls, notched 82 draw controls and caused 40 turnovers.
This season Abt has 11 goals and five assists for 16 points, placing her among the team leaders. She opened the season with two goals and an assist against California. In a 10-9 loss at Hofstra this past Sunday, Abt scored two goals and added an assist. In a 6-5 double overtime loss to Cornell last week, the Huntington grad scored twice. One game earlier, she had three goals and an assist in a 14-5 victory over Boston University.
Abt has scored in 17 of Notre Dame's last 18 games. The sociology major is in the running for Big East Conference and All-American honors this season.
