Huntington Competes in Nassau Science & Arts Fair

A team of Huntington High School science research program students competed in the prestigious and challenging Nassau Community College's 13th annual Arts and Sciences Fair, compiling impressive results.

Huntington's team consisted of junior Holly Flores, sophomores Megan Hansen, Ershad Amin and Jacob Roday and freshmen Jake Ryan, Brandon May, James Sosa and Joshua Watkins.

Each student had to tie their research project to the theme of this year's competition: "Social Injustice Now." Mr. Roday captured first place in the sophomore division and Ms. Flores earned first place in the 11th/12th grade division.

The Nassau competition typically draws a high-powered field complete with many of Long Island's best students. "With lots of excitement, the team had a great time talking to judges about their projects and developed new friendships for their science endeavors," said Lori Kenny, who heads the science research program at Huntington High School.

Overall, Huntington's research team set a new standard for the school at the competition. The group also displayed impressive sportsmanship, cheering not only one another but reaching out and forging relationships with their counterparts from neighboring districts.
