Positive Outlook for
Blue Devil Boys' Track
Coming off another very good season, what does the future hold for the Huntington High School boys' track and field team? Ron Wilson, the Blue Devils' head coach, is feeling good about 2012.
"Next year, we should do well," Wilson said. "The only place where we are still hurting is the distance events. We return quite a few experienced athletes, including two who earned All-State honors.
State medalists Tyriek Johnson and Trayvon Toney will be back. Current tenth graders Shaheem Lewis and Davon Nelson won the sophomore county championship in discus and shot put, respectively, with outstanding marks. Ray Vega also improved as a discus thrower and shot putter.
"Freshmen Y'Majesty Allen, Joshua Watkins, Giancarlo Puello, Marquis Francis, Matteo McNeil and Mark Sanon did an awesome job," Wilson said. "They should return with some experience and look to better themselves. They are going to have to dedicate themselves a bit more and work a little harder if they are to be league and county champs! We definitely have a cast of characters to do just that!"
