Alumni Association Presents
Senior Awards

Huntington High School Alumni Association President Valerie Allocco presented four current seniors with awards earlier this month during a ceremony in the high school auditorium.
Class of 2011 members Joseph Adelmann and Gabriella Mitchell earned $500 scholarships for their academic success and activity participation. Mr. Adelmann is headed to New York University and Ms. Mitchell will attend Stony Brook University with plans to study athletic training.
Mr. Adelmann is an officer in the high school Gay-Straight Alliance, a peer mediator and a Natural Helper. Ms. Mitchell starred on the cross country, winter and spring girls' track and field teams.
The Alumni Association presented this year's coveted Alumni Cups to valedictorian Carolyn Fante and Ben Jensen. The awards are given to students who "best exhibited sportsmanship, character and dedication to school and community," Ms. Alloco said.
Ms. Fante will be attending the University of Pennsylvania where she plans to study international relations. She is president of Huntington's National Honor Society chapter, co-editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, the high school student newspaper and vice-president of the Spanish Honor Society. She even won a varsity letter on the Blue Devil girls' soccer team.
Mr. Jensen will soon head off to the University of Vermont to study captive wildlife care and education. He was an exceptional member of the Blue Devil crew team and participated in various clubs, including Huntington's Habitat for Humanity chapter.
