Jefferson School Community Day
on Saturday
It's time for some fun this Saturday at Jefferson Primary School's Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oakwood Road building.
This marks the fourth annual Jefferson School Community Day and organizers hope it will be the best one yet. There will be plenty of activities for everyone. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad will be on the scene with tours of its well-stocked rescue vehicle.
The Huntington Public Library will also be there with story-time and craft activities. The Brownies will host a lemonade stand. The Cub Scouts are holding a car wash to benefit "Homes for Heroes," which supports renovations to the houses of disabled war veterans.
Bad Dawgs will have one of its trucks at Jefferson, offering for sale such staples as hot dogs, burgers and refreshments. Many families are expected to picnic on the school lawn. Ben & Jerry's ice cream will be on sale, too.
One of the highlights of the day will undoubtedly be the family kickball game scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Community Day organizers will also be collecting donations of food, clothing, housewares and toys for the Family Service League.
"It sure sounds like Jefferson School is the place to be on Saturday," Superintendent John J. Finello said.
